the american cathedral in paris

March 2020–May 2023, Website Rebuilt Fall 2022

I started this website rebuild by going through the existing website with a fine-toothed comb, noting what was outdated, what was difficult to access, what was unnecessary, and what was vital.

Our needs included: an approachable homepage; a more welcoming graphic standard, including updated community and architectural imagery; a more navigable sitemap; and a prominent welcome page for new members.

I wrote or rewrote all copy for the new site and solicited edits from department heads. Sometimes this meant cutting a page; other times, it meant creating a new section (e.g. our history section). I reached out to colleagues at other churches and studied the websites of more than a hundred churches and cathedrals.

Shortly before this project, I had worked with an external graphic designer to update the cathedral's style guide. After submitting a wire frame of the new site to leadership, I worked with the same external graphic designer, a programming consultant, and multiple photographers to implement our updated branding. The website launched in November 2022.

In early 2023, I produced all graphic elements for the cathedral’s centenary weekend, including presentation slides, roll-up posters, flyers, banners, social media posts, tote bags, and more (see print layout page). This required working with the style guides of three organizations and responding to the needs of numerous and varied shareholders. After the centenary weekend, I produced a page on the cathedral's website to capture the weekend and thank everyone involved.
